Our Mission

Malnutrition and poverty limit health opportunities for the people of the food-insecure, rural Kamuli District of Uganda. A program to improve the nutrition and nutritional education of women and children is in place through the Iowa State University, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the Center for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods (CSRL), who have partnered with a local Ugandan, non-governmental organization, Volunteer Efforts for Development Concerns (VEDCO). Today, there is a need for additional funds to assist the day-to-day interventions of severe malnutrition and to support educational efforts in order to prevent future chronic malnutrition.

Establish & Grow is a program developed by students and faculty at Iowa State University. It aims to foster student service learning projects that focus their efforts toward raising funds to supplement ISU-VEDCO’s efforts that fight food insecurity and malnutrition in Uganda.

How can you get involved? Any student or student organization is highly encouraged to participate. Check out the contact link to find a faculty member for more information!
