I had always wanted a chance to live outside the country, and heard about doing an internship abroad through the Ag Career Services. I was a little worried about fitting it into my schedule, and didn't turn in the application till the last minute. I had no idea what part of the world I would be staying in. I was contacted about doing the internship in Guangzhou, China, one month in advance. I worked from January 5 - May 15, in the USDA Foreign Ag Service. The people, who I worked with, spoke English and helped me learn the street language.
I loved living abroad. I will be studying abroad in New Zealand this November. After graduation, I am going to work on my grandparent's dairy farm, compiling finance information, keeping records and assisting in the daily chores.
Since my freshman year, I have been involved in different clubs and organizations such as; Ag council, NAMA, Dairy Judging Team, Dairy Challenge Team and I am currently the president of the Dairy Science club. I have met and networked with so many important people in the college and the agriculture industry. Now I am more open minded towards the different fields in agriculture as well as more analytical. When I face a problem, I know how to address it, not necessarily solve it, but I know how to handle the situation.
