Agency Announcements

NIH: National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases New Concepts: Potential Opportunities

New concepts represent early planning stages for program announcements, requests for applications, and solicitations. Approval of a concept does not guarantee it will become an initiative, but concepts reveal possible initiatives and provide ideas for investigator-initiated applications. NIH: New Website Gives Unfunded NIH Applications Another Chance at Funding

The National Health Council has launched an online “matchmaker” site to connect unfunded applications to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) with alternative funding sources. Any researcher whose project was scored but not funded can post their abstract and contact information for free. Using these details, registered organizations can search for projects of interest. The site houses profiles of over 40 patient advocacy groups and will eventually include companies and private investors. More: http://healthresearchfunding.org/

NIH: See FOAs and “Notices” for Revisions to Funding Opportunity Announcements

Adapted from “NIH eRA Commons Items of Interest”
Updated Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs): NIH Institutes are continually evaluating and updating funding opportunities. Sometimes this results in having an FOA expire earlier than previously announced. It is good practice to revisit your FOAs within 30 days of the deadline to ensure you have the most recent information available. Pay special attention to the Related Notices and Key Date sections of the announcement.

NSF Notice Regarding Automated Compliance Checking of Fastlane Proposal Submissions

This information was provided by NSF and is also available at: http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2013/nsf13066/nsf13066.jsp?WT.mc_id=USNSF_109.

Beginning March 18, 2013, the NSF will enhance the FastLane System to begin automated compliance checking for all required sections of full proposals. This will bring NSF systems in line with long-standing proposal preparation requirements as outlined in the NSF Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) (Chapter II.C.2 of the Grant Proposal Guide (GPG)). Preliminary proposals are not affected by this system enhancement.
