Fulbright Seminar
Attend an informational
seminar to find out more about opportunities under the various Fulbright
programs on Wednesday, March 3, 2004,

Successful Grant Award
Congratulations to Ramesh Kanwar (PI), David Acker,
Robert Jolly, Ricardo Salvador (Co-PIs), and Carrie Drummond (Project
Manager) on a successful grant application for the U.S.-India Higher
Education Partnership Initiative in Agriculture funded by the Association
Liaison Office for University Cooperation in Development. ISU's partner
institution will be the University
of Agricultural Science, Bangalore, Karnataka, India. In addition
to ISU, grants were also awarded to Ohio State University, Michigan
State University, Cornell University, Purdue University, and the University
of California-Davis.
Faculty/Staff Development Tours
Exploring Accelerated Global Leadership Experiences (EAGLE).
An international training experience for extension
professionals sponsored by Iowa State University Extension and University
of Wisconsin Extension. Training includes a 1.5-day pre-study tour training
at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, April 19-20, 2004, a 10-day
study tour to Costa Rica, May 11-24, 2004. Cost for the study tour to
Costa Rica and pre-study tour training is $2,100 (includes airfare from
Chicago, all room and meal expenses in Costa Rica and double occupancy
lodging). Registration and a $500 deposit are due April 1, 2004.

Food Systems of Northern Italy (Annual College of Agriculture/IAHEES Faculty/Staff Development Tour). May 17 - 26, 2004 (tentative) and will be located in the Veneto Region of Northern Italy. The itinerary will be tailored to fit the interests of the group but will include visits to farms, processing and research sites to understand the successes and challenges of this rural region, a visit to the University of Padova and other cultural visits. The group will be based at Ca' Tron, a 2,000-acre farm located in the country near the small village of Meolo. Travelers pay airfare. All other program-related costs (lodging at Ca'Tron, some group meals, local group transportation, translators) are covered by Global Agriculture Programs. Tour is open to faculty, staff and graduate students with appointments in the College of Agriculture/IAHEES. Priority will be given to faculty and staff who are willing to commit to lead a study abroad program for undergrads or graduate students of 2+ weeks' duration during 2005-2007 to Italy or another destination and to those with limited international experience.
