Taylor To Direct College Study Abroad Programs
Shelley Taylor has been named director of agriculture study abroad in the International Agriculture Programs office. Taylor is currently the administrative assistant for the MidAmerica International Agricultural Consortium. In her new position, she will plan, direct and evaluate College of Agriculture student study and work abroad programs. Taylor is president of the ISU chapter of Phi Beta Delta, the honor society of international scholars, and co-adviser of the International Agriculture Club. She has a bachelor's degree in international affairs from the University of Colorado and a master's in anthropology from ISU.

Funding Available for Graduate Students/Postdocs
Funding for graduate students and postdocs to undertake international research and education is available again this year through the College of Agriculture. The deadline is November 15, 1999. The RFP is available on line at:

Ag Study Abroad Update
Nineteen ag students will participate in a study abroad program in Panama from December 28, 1999 to January 7, 2000. This is the first time the Ag Study Abroad Office has offered a program abroad during winter break.

Once again, the Ag Foundation is awarding scholarships to undergraduates in agriculture participating in study abroad programs during this academic year. Please apply through the Ag Study Abroad Office, 18 Curtiss Hall. The deadline for applications is November 15, 1999.

Study Abroad Courses - Spring 2000
1. Argentina - Economics, group leaders are Sergio Lence and Ebby Luvaga.
2. Costa Rica - AgEd, Economics, Agronomy, group leaders are Lisa Breja, Jan Holtkamp, Dan Dobill
3. Mexico - Agronomy, group leader is Ricardo Salvador
4. Honduras - Biology, group leader is Donald Sakaguchi

The deadline for applications for the MIAC study abroad programs in Panama and Mexico scheduled for Winter Break has been extended until November 1, 1999. Students will have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship and/or to work during the semester to help reduce their travel expenses. Did You Know That . . .
Effective September 15, 1999, the Embassy of Ukraine introduced a new regulation regarding visa application forms? Under the new regulations, application forms may be received only by an individual traveler to Ukraine either appearing at the Consular Office in person or requesting the form by mail. When requesting the form by mail, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Request the forms from the Embassy of Ukraine, 3350 M Street NW, Washington, DC 20007 or the Consulate General of Ukraine, 10 East Huron St., Chicago, IL 60611.
