IMMEDIATE GOALS


Develop effective communications and liaison with other natural resource, conservation, environmental, scientific, and educational organizations. These include the National Association of Professional Forestry Schools and Colleges (NAPFSC), National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC), American Fisheries Society, International Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (IAFWA), The Wildlife Society, Wildlife Management Institute, American Institute of Biological Sciences, Conservation International, Ecological Society of America, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, National Wildlife Federation, Sea Grant Association, and World Wildlife Fund. Such communications ensure that research, education, and extension programs are responsive to national as well as state and local needs.

Establish ongoing interaction with offices and agencies of the government that determine research, education, and extension policies, support and/or fund university programs, or play a regulatory role. These include the National Science Foundation, National Academy of Sciences, Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Management and Budget, Bureau of Land Management, Biological Resources Division of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Park Service, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Natural Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Forest Service, and USDA's Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES).

Represent members' perspective on current fisheries and wildlife issues. Timely and effective communications are directed toward appropriate national organizations, committees, and individuals associated with the development of important research, education, and extension programs that pertain to the conservation and management of fisheries and wildlife resources.
