One of the most vivid memories of my ISU days was at a freshman orientation meeting. The speaker said, "Look to your left, now look to your right, one of the three of you will be gone by winter quarter." That was my first wakeup call … . It was big to a kid who turned 18 the week before and came from a high school class of 16.
