In the winter of 1956-57, seating at the Armory was limited for big games. So, when ISU played Kansas, students had to line up early to have their activity tickets validated for the game. I recall standing in line with a friend at 5:00 a.m. in the morning in order to see the game. 5"10" Gary Thompson played post for a short time against 7'0" Wilt Chamberlin. We won as the records would show. I think it was a low scoring game of 38-37.
