Global Climate Change and Its Impact on Food Production and Biofuels

This project is a joint effort of the ISU College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and ISU Extension with the following objectives:

  • To increase knowledge by presenting the most recent research about climate change from several disciplines, with information about impacts, mitigation, adaptation, and policy,
  • To reveal the gaps in knowledge and compile a list of researchable questions that must be answered to help sustain the vitality of U.S. and Iowa agriculture.
  • To create a roadmap for research, education, and outreach and identify the collaborations and partnerships that will be needed to successfully follow the roadmap.

The project began on March 2 with a forum that brought together agricultural thought leaders from commodity organizations, agribusiness, government agencies, and environmental groups, and researchers from Iowa State University, Duke University, and the University of Tennessee. The presentations from the forum are posted on this site, and the discussions that took place are the first step in the process of defining and refining the researchable questions that will help form the roadmap.

Over the next several months, we will post new information as development of our roadmap for research, education, and outreach proceeds.

We wish to thank the following sponsors for their support for the forum and their continued support of this process.
