After the completion of this unit the students will be able

2. recognize and describe a riparian area and know
its natural functions.

3. describe major sources of non-point source
pollution affecting Iowa's water resources.

4. describe ways that a constructed, multi-species
riparian buffer can improve surface and groundwater
quality.

5. understand a riparian management system.

6. understand the role and importance of stable
streambanks.

7. understand the role and importance of constructed
wetlands associated with tiles.

8. understand modifications needed to accommodate
livestock in riparian areas.

9. understand the importance and potential of using a
riparian buffer system in horticultural and urban
settings.
