This module is designed to introduce students to the concept of biological control. The module can be completed in three hours of class time. If further extensions of this topic are desired, up to two additional hours may be spent using suggested activities.



After completion of this module, the student will be able to:

1. Define the concept of biological control.

2. Identify three categories of biological control.

3. Identify three ways in which a biological control program can be implemented.

4. Identify insects that are natural enemies.

5. Describe how these natural enemies contribute to biological control.



1. Place fingernail polish on cotton ball and tape to the underside of the jar lid. Seal the jar tightly

2. Review the insects in the box and become familiar with natural enemies for field trip.
