Queen Bee 
(1984) Dark red shrub. The ovoid-pointed buds of dark red open to double (3040 petals), high-centered to cupped, 4-4.5 inch blooms of velvety dark cardinal red (RHSCC 53A) which age a bit lighter. The blooms are borne in clusters of 5-8 and have a pleasing old-rose fragrance. The abundant, large leathery foliage is dark olive green and has good field tolerance to foliar disease. The thorns are brown and awl-like. The erect, bushy plant is free-branching and blooms from June until killing frost. Plants are winter-hardy in Iowa without protection.
