IA3006 (A92-729002) Large Seeded Specialty Soybean Variety
Iowa State University has developed a large seeded specialty variety for use in various food products. IA3006 has superior seed size in comparison with the large -seeded variety IA3002. IA3006 is an F4 plant selection from the cross A87-194013 x (DSR 252 x LS301). A87-194013 and LS301 are large-seeded lines developed by Iowa State University. DSR 252 is a high-yielding variety developed by Dairyland Seed Company, Inc.. IA3006 was evaluated for agronomic performance and seed from 1991 to 1995 (see data below). It was compared with IA3002 and LS301, two large-seeded varieties. IA3006 averages about 1 day later in maturity than IA3002. Its yield is comparable to IA3002 and it has larger seed size than IA3002. IA3006LF Lipoxygenase Free Specialty Soybean Variety
IA3006LF is a lipoxygenase-free specialty variety for use in various food products. IA3006LF is made up of 26 BC 3F 2-derived lines with uniform agronomic and seed characteristics obtained by backcrossing into IA3006 the lx 1, lx 2, and lx 3 alleles that control the absence of three lipoxygenase isozymes. Absence of the three isozymes results in a soybean seed that lacks the typical beany or grassy flavor of conventional seed. The source of the lx 1, lx 2, and lx 3 alleles backcrossed into IA3006 was the BC 3F 2-derived lines of IA2020 that had the lx 1, lx 2, and lx 3 alleles. IA3006 and IA2020 are large-seeded, high-protein varieties released by Iowa State University. IA3006PR High Protein, Phytophthora rot resistant Specialty Soybean Variety
Iowa State University has developed a high protein, Phytophthora rot resistant specialty variety for use in various food products. IA3006PR is made up of 41 BC3F4- derived lines with uniform agronomic and seed characteristics obtained by backcrossing into IA3006 the Rps1-k allele for Phytophthora rot resistance. The source of the rps1-k allele backcrossed into IA3006 was IA2021. IA3006 is a large-seeded, high-protein variety developed by Iowa State University. IA2021 is a general-use variety developed by Iowa State University. IA3006PR is being evaluated at Ames, Atlantic, Carlisle, Eldora, Keystone, Richland, Rippey, and Winterset, IA. It is expected to perform the same as IA3006 because it was derived from three backcrosses ad the donor of the Rps1-k allele had good agronomic and seed characteristics. IA3008LF Lipoxygenase Free Specialty Soybean Variety
IA3008LF is a lipoxygenase-free specialty variety for use in various food products. IA3008LF is made up of 57 BC 3F 2-derived lines with uniform agronomic and seed characteristics obtained by backcrossing into IA3008 the lx 1, lx 2, and lx 3 alleles that control the absence of three lipoxygenase isozymes. Absence of the three isozymes results in a soybean seed that lacks the typical beany or grassy flavor of conventional seed. The source of the lx 1, lx 2, and lx 3 alleles backcrossed into IA3008 was the line A96-969001 that had the lx 1, lx 2, and lx 3 alleles. IA3008 is a small-seeded variety released by Iowa State University. A96-969001 is a lipoxygenase-free experimental line developed by Iowa State University. IA3011 (A95-589045) Large Seeded High Protein Specialty Soybean
IA3011 is an F3 plant selection from the cross A91-504042 X (9303 X A91-613019). They have high -protein content and above average seed size. 9303 is a general-use variety developed by Pioneer Hi-bred International, Inc. IA3011 was tested in Iowa from 1994 to 1998. It was compared with Vinton 81 and IA2020, two large-seeded, high-protein varieties released by Iowa State University. IA3011 has higher yield and protein than current large-seeded, high-protein varieties of similar maturity. IA3016 (A98-982020) Large Seeded, High Protein Specialty Soybean Variety
IA3016 is a large-seed, high-protein line. IA3016 is a F3 plant selection from the cross IA1007 X (IA2037 X Pioneer 9204). IA1007 and IA2037 are large-seeded cultivars developed by Iowa State University. 9204 is a general-use cultivar developed by Pioneer Hi-Bred International. IA3016 was tested in Iowa from 1997 to 2001. It was compared with IA2034, IA3001, IA3006, and IA3011, which are four large-seeded, high-protein varieties released by Iowa State University. IA3016 matures eight days later than IA2034, four days later than IA3001, ten days later than IA3006, and nine days later than IA3011. Averaged across the years of testing, it has a higher yield than the four varieties and comparable protein content and seed size.
