Distance Education Instructors Reception

College of Agriculture and Life Science distance education instructors were recognized at a Distance Education Reception on April 23, 2008. The program consisted of remarks from Dean Wintersteen, Associate Dean Acker, and Director Gaylan Scofield.

Twenty Plus plaques were awarded to four instructors, Ten Plus plaques were awarded to seven instructors, and Five Plus certificates were awarded to twenty-seven instructors. Instructor List

Distance Education Enrollment Soars

Enrollment in College of Agriculture and Life Sciences distance learning courses continue to grow by leaps and bounds. Summer enrollment was 445 students and Fall has 654.

Pod Casts for Research

Starting fall semester, the Brenton Center will expand free Pod Casts to include research from faculty in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. These Pod Casts will be placed on the new college research web pages under construction by Brenton Center staff.

Departments or faculty who have an interest in Pod Casts for Research should contact Rod Fischer at 4-9970 or videoguy@iastate.edu to set a time to discuss the research project or for more information on how they can use Pod Casts.

Distance Education Continues to Increase

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences distance education students come from 8 countries and 18 states. A total of 947 distinct students enrolled in FY '07 and accounted for 1,135 total course registrations.

Forty-five percent are seeking a MS degree and thirty-five percent are seeking a BS degree. Seventy-three percent live in Iowa.

Brenton Center to offer free PodCasts to COA Departments for recruitment

A Pod Cast is a multimedia file distributed over the Internet for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. The Brenton Center is encouraging departments to create a variety of podcasts that will assist in recruitment of new students to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Contact Rod Fischer at 4-9970 or (videoguy@iastate.edu) to learn how to use this free service.

Strategic Plan for Distance Education

The new Strategic Plan for Distance Education has been announced for the College of Agriculture.

Summer 07 enrollments in off-campus courses reach highest level in history. The College of Agriculture has seen significant growth during this semester.
