High School Course Grants

High School Based Distance Education Courses

(Postsecondary Enrollment Options Act - PSEOA)

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is moving forward with a new initiative entitled "Iowa State Agriculture Life Science Academy". Private funds will be sought for this initiative. This initiative will offer science based agriculture courses to rural Iowa high school students interested in agricultural science. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is supportive of new and existing courses that could be taught at a distance that would expose more high school students to the exciting and varied applications of agricultural sciences. A limited number of 100 level courses (1 - 3 credits) will be supported in this initiative.

Departments identified in this initiative will follow approved practices and principles for developing distance delivery courses as stipulated by the Brenton Center. Course content will be organized in modules for greater flexibility of teaching additional credit or non-credit courses. Faculty will meet with the Brenton Center staff to discuss their needs and time line for completion of the conversion.
