During the past several weeks, there have been several announcements regarding faculty and staff benefits, salary increases and the new retirement incentive option, RIO3. Here is a recap:

First, the university's contribution to employees’ TIAA-CREF accounts will be restored to the full 10% on July 1. The contribution was reduced to 8% last fall to help meet the mid-year budget reduction.

On Monday, I submitted to the office of the Executive Vice President and Provost our preliminary planning report on how we will address budget reductions for FY11. Our report will be available in the near future on the Budget Updates website, which is linked on our CALS homepage.

CALS/Experiment Station/ANR Extension Preliminary Planning Report April 12, 2010

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences/Experiment Station and Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Extension have developed preliminary FY11 budget plans to address reductions totaling $3,317,570 million — an integrated CALS/Experiment Station cut of $3,019,896 plus cuts totaling $297,674 allocated to ANR Extension by ISU Extension.

CALS budget memo March 3, 2010

I want to provide an update on our state FY11 budget that begins on July 1, 2010. Much remains uncertain. The full picture for FY11 may not emerge until the legislature adjourns, which could be late this month.
