Mission Statement

In keeping with is land-grant tradition, the Sociology Department creates and disseminates knowledge that advances the well being of all people, especially the people of Iowa. The Department seeks to prepare students to lead fulfilling careers and lives through critical thinking and analysis of pressing problems.

The undergraduate degree in Public Service and Administration in Agriculture (PSA), is administered through the College of Agriculture, with co-participating Departments of Economics and Political Science. (Other undergraduate programs in the department and administered through the College of Liberal Arts and Science are Sociology (both major and minor degrees) and Criminal Justice (minor degree)).
