Renteria, a CALS biology and animal ecology major, made three animal masks from sheet metal and plastic pulled from the Skunk River. The art-meets-science-at-the-river project was the brainchild of Denise Hix, academic adviser and coordinator of the biology learning community of about 150 freshmen. He began his duties on Dec. 1. He will work in Hamilton, Humboldt, Webster and Wright counties. Chizek most recently served as an extension regional director for neighboring Buena Vista, Calhoun, Cherokee, Ida, Pocahontas, and Sac counties. More...BERVEN NAMED TO IOWA CATTLEMEN’S ASSOCIATION HALL OF FAMEBruce Berven (‘70 animal science, ‘73 MS) has been inducted into the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association Hall of Fame. He led the association as its top executive from 1978-1984, then again in 2006-2010. Berven provided leadership for the association and several other cattle industry organizations for more than three decades. Berven also worked as a county director and area livestock production specialist for ISU Extension. More...ULCH CHAIRS SOY TRANSPORTATION COALITIONEd Ulch (’68 ag business) of Solon, Iowa, has been re-elected chairman of the Soy Transportation Coalition. Ulch is currently vice chair of the National Biodiesel Board and serves on the Iowa Soybean Association Board of Directors. The Soy Transportation Coalition is comprised of 11 state soybean boards, the American Soybean Association and the United Soybean Board. |
