1,000 ANIMAL SCIENTISTS TO MEET IN DES MOINES MARCH 15-17

NEARLY 300 RESEARCH PAPERS TO BE PRESENTED.

The joint Midwest meeting of the American Society of Animal Science and the American Dairy Science Association begins at 1 p.m. Monday, March 15 at the Polk County Convention Center in downtown Des Moines.

With more than 1,000 students and scientists from university, government and private laboratories expected to attend, the meeting is the largest get-together of livestock researchers and extension specialists in the region. Nearly 300 scientific papers will be presented. The meeting closes at noon on Wednesday, March 17. Registration for media representatives is free.

Key topics include nutrition, meat quality, grazing systems, genetic mapping, livestock health, waste management, animal reproduction and animal behavior.
