ISU STUDENT GROUP WINS NATIONAL AWARD
AMES -- Iowa State University's Agricultural Systems Technology Club has been named the winner of the 1999 Equipment Manufacturers Institute trophy sponsored by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE).
The club won the award in the mechanization branch of the competition. The award was presented at the ASAE's annual meeting in Toronto, Canada, earlier this year. The trophy is given to clubs showing exceptional initiative and accomplishment in ASAE student branch activities.
The club entered a written report summarizing their meetings, activities and progress towards goals they had set as a group. Charles Schwab, the club's adviser, said the award is a great accomplishment for the group, which has more than 85 student members. "It's a unique experience for the students," said Schwab. "They were able to summarize a year's worth of activities and create an award-winning report."
