IOWA STATE'S AG BUSINESS CLUB TOPS IN THE NATION -- AGAIN
AMES -- For the second year in a row and the fourth time this decade, Iowa State University's Agricultural Business Club has been named the outstanding chapter in the nation by the American Agricultural Economics Association.
The award, sponsored by the association's student section, was presented to a delegation of the ISU student club's members at the association's annual meeting in August in Nashville, Tenn.
"No other club at any university has won this award more than once during the '90s," said Ron Deiter, professor of economics and the club's adviser. "I'm extremely proud of the young men and women who make up this organization."
The Ag Business Club is one of the largest student groups on the Iowa State campus, with almost 200 members. The outstanding chapter award is based on the quality of clubs' educational, fund-raising, professional, public-service and student recruitment activities.
Also at the Nashville meeting, Garrett Toay, a junior in agricultural business from Stockton, Ill., was elected to the six-member national officer team for the student section of the American Agricultural Economics Assocation. Toay is the vice president of the north-central region.
