CANDIDATE FOR ISU AGRICULTURAL LAW POSITION TO VISIT SEPT. 16

AMES, Iowa -- Jon Lauck, a candidate for a faculty position in agricultural law at Iowa State University, will present a seminar during his visit to campus on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

Lauck's seminar, which is open to the public, will be held at 4:10 p.m. in Room 2050, Agronomy Hall. Lauck is an assistant professor at South Dakota State University, and formerly practiced law with Johnson, Heidpriem, Miner, Marlow & Janklow in Sioux Falls, S.D. He received his Ph.D. in economic history from the University of Iowa in 1997 and a law degree from the University of Minnesota in 2000. He is the author of "American Agriculture and the Problem of Monopoly: The Political Economy of Grain Belt Farming, 1953-1980," published by the University of Nebraska Press.

The person who fills the position in ISU's economics department will lead extension programs, conduct research and teach classes. Neil Harl, a Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and a nationally prominent leader in agricultural law and economics, is retiring this year after 39 years at Iowa State.
