SUMMIT TO SHOWCASE AGRICULTURE'S SIGNIFICANCE
AMES, Iowa -- The second Summit on the Future of Agricultural Education in Iowa on Jan. 12 seeks to bring together those that promote understanding of the food and fiber industry in the state.
"There are many organizations and groups that are dedicated to helping Iowans understand more about the agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources industry," said Robert Martin, chair of the Governor's Council on Agricultural Education and head of the Department of Agricultural Education and Studies. "Unfortunately, many of them are not aware of other groups' efforts to educate Iowans."
The summit, which is free, begins at 8 a.m. with registration at Scheman Building on the Iowa State campus. Gov. Tom Vilsack will be speaking during the opening session at 8:30 a.m. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Patty Judge will speak at the luncheon. There will be exhibits of organizations that provide information about agriculture and mini-workshops related to agricultural education. The summit is scheduled to conclude at 3:30 p.m.
