AMES, Iowa -- An Iowa State University professor has received the distinguished service award from the Asian Association of Agricultural Engineering (AAAE).

Ramesh Kanwar was presented with the award on Dec. 4 at the 10th anniversary celebration of the association. Kanwar is a professor of agricultural and biosystems engineering, assistant director of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station and director of the Iowa State Water Research Institute.

Kanwar is the founding member of the AAAE and has served on the editorial board of its journal since 1991. He was twice elected as vice president of the association and served as chairman for the International Symposium on Water and Environment as part of this year's International Agricultural Engineering Conference, also on Dec. 4.
