ISU AG SORORITY TO HOST FARM SAFETY CAMP SEPT. 22
Ames, Iowa -- For some Iowa children the farm is a home, family workplace and playground, but it can also be a dangerous place. To help children play and live safely on the farm the Sigma Alpha agricultural sorority is holding a day camp at Iowa State University to teach youngsters some safety tips.
The farm safety day camp will be held Sept. 22 at Kildee Hall on the ISU campus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp is organized for children in third through sixth grades.
The day's events will include presentations and hands-on activities to teach children safety rules about animals, grain, machinery and power take-off (PTO) equipment, as well as first-aid and emergency response techniques. Children who don't live on the farm also are encouraged to attend.
Iowa State students from various agriculture student organizations will serve as counselors, educators and sponsors for the camp.
