NEW LEOPOLD CENTER DIRECTOR TO SPEAK ON SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

AMES, Iowa -- Fred Kirschenmann, the new director of Iowa State University's Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, will share his vision for the center and sustainable agriculture at a presentation Sept. 12.

Kirschenmann took over as Leopold Center director this summer, replacing Dennis Keeney, who retired. Kirschenmann manages his family's North Dakota farm, a 3,500-acre organic operation. He earned a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Chicago and has served as a college teacher and administrator.

His presentation will begin at 7 p.m. in the Sun Room of ISU's Memorial Union. It will be part of the Shivvers Lectureship, sponsored by Gamma Sigma Delta, the Honor Society of Agriculture.

A reception will begin at 6:15 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
