HUNGARIAN AGRICULTURE COLLEGE HONORS TWO ISU FACULTY
AMES, Iowa -- Two Iowa State University faculty members have been named honorary professors of the College of Agriculture and Economics of Gyongyos at St. Stephen University in Hungary.
David Topel, professor of animal science, and John Miranowski, chair of the economics department, received the honor at an international conference of agricultural economists held recently in Hungary. The biennial conference was first organized by ISU agricultural economist Earl Heady in 1968.
The honorary professorships recognize the contributions made by Topel and Miranowski in strengthening educational and scientific ties between the two institutions, including exchange programs.
Earlier this year Topel stepped down as dean of ISU's College of Agriculture to join the animal science faculty. He was dean for 12 years. Miranowski has chaired ISU's economics department for five years.
