ISU AG SORORITY TO HOLD FARM SAFETY DAY CAMP SEPT. 23

AMES, Iowa -- An Iowa State University agricultural women's organization is hosting a farm safety day camp on Sept. 23.

Sigma Alpha agricultural sorority has organized the camp for children in fourth through eighth grades, to be held on the Iowa State campus.

The day's events will include presentations and hands-on activities teaching children about chemical, electrical, animal, grain and tractor safety, as well as first aid tips for the farm. Children from on and off the farm are encouraged to attend.

Students from various agriculture student organizations will serve as counselors, educators and sponsors for the day camp. Other sponsors are Collegiate FFA, the Ag Business Club, Dow AgroSciences, Block & Bridle, the Ag Systems Technology Club, the Pre-vet Club and the ISU Ag Foundation.

The camp will begin at 10 a.m. at Kildee Hall and last until 2 p.m. The registration fee is $5, which includes lunch and a T-shirt. The registration deadline is Sept. 20.
