NEW MANAGER NAMED FOR ISU SEED TESTING LABORATORY

AMES, Iowa -- Daniel Curry has been named the manager of the Seed Testing Laboratory in Iowa State University's Seed Science Center.

Since 1996 Curry has been an industrial specialist in value-added agriculture for ISU Extension. Prior to that he worked six years as a researcher in ISU's Seed Science Center. He also has worked as the plant manager and assistant production manager for Curry Seed Company in South Dakota.

Curry succeeds Susana Goggi, who managed the Seed Testing Laboratory for six years. Goggi recently was hired as an assistant professor of agronomy at ISU and will serve as the Seed Science Center's seed physiologist.

Curry, a native of Elk Point, S.D., earned his bachelor's degree in agronomy at South Dakota State University and his master's of business administration from ISU.

ISU has offered a seed testing program for more than 110 years. The Seed Testing Laboratory conducts seed quality and health tests for clients around the state and the country. Corn and soybeans are the main crops, but the lab also tests seed from more than 300 different species of small grains, flowers, vegetables, grasses and herbs. Test results provide clients with the information required by state, federal or international agencies to sell or trade seed.
