ISU FACULTY MEMBER NAMED INTERNATIONAL FELLOW
AMES, Iowa -- An Iowa State University professor has been named a fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences in India (NAAS).
Ramesh Kanwar was awarded the fellowship on Nov. 27. Kanwar is a professor of agricultural and biosystems engineering, assistant director of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station and director of the Iowa State Water Resources Research Institute.
"It is a great honor to be elected as a fellow of this prestigious international agricultural academy. Also, it is gratifying to know that NAAS recognizes the scientific contributions of overseas scientists," Kanwar said. Annually, NAAS elects 10 national fellows but only two international fellows.
The national academy recognizes and supports excellence in scientific research in agriculture. The organization promotes scientific collaborations within the worldwide scientific community, publishes documents and case studies for policy-makers for the advancement of agriculture research and development, organizes international conferences and helps to develop new grant programs. More than 30,000 scientists are working in agricultural universities and research institutions in India within this organization.
