YOUNGS RECEIVES NACTA TEACHER FELLOW AWARD
AMES, Iowa -- Curtis R. Youngs received a NACTA Teacher Fellow Award at the Annual National Association of Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Conference.
Youngs is an associate professor of animal science at Iowa State University and oversees the animal science department sheep teaching farm. His teaching responsibilities include two courses which he developed on embryo transfer and related technologies. Youngs' research focuses on factors affecting reproductive efficiency in mammalian livestock species, basic research in embryo manipulation technologies and applied sheep management.
NACTA is an organization dedicated to the improvement of college teaching of agriculture, natural and environmental sciences. There are presently more than 1,000 members of NACTA representing more than 125 post-secondary agricultural institutions in the United States and Canada. Youngs' award was presented June 23.
The NACTA Teacher Fellow Award is based on evaluations by current students, former students, peers, and administrative officers, as well as on the statement of teaching philosophy.
He received an associate of applied science degree in animal research technology from the University of Minnesota-Waseca and his bachelor's and doctorate degrees in animal science from the University of Minnesota-St. Paul .
