AWARDS PRESENTED BY AGRICULTURE HONOR SOCIETY
AMES, Iowa -- Awards were presented April 15 to Iowa State University College of Agriculture faculty members by the Iowa Chapter of the Honor Society of Agriculture, known as Gamma Sigma Delta.
Harold "Sande" McNabb, Jr. of Ames received the Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award. McNabb is a University Professor of both plant pathology and forestry. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska, and master's and doctorate degrees from Yale University. He joined the ISU faculty in 1953.
Four Mission Awards were presented. Research Awards went to Alfred Blackmer, a professor of agronomy, and Jerry Sell, a professor of animal science. Victor Bekkum, professor of agricultural and biosystems engineering, received the Teaching Award. The Extension Award went to Mark Hanna, extension agricultural engineer and assistant professor of agricultural and biosystems engineering.
New chapter officers were elected: Russell Mullen, agronomy, president; Ronald Deiter, economics, vice-president; and Steven Jungst, forestry, secretary-treasurer.
Gamma Sigma Delta encourages excellence in the practice of agricultural pursuits and high standards of scholarship in all branches of agricultural science and education.
