DEITER RECEIVES CENTRAL REGION JOHN DEERE AWARD
AMES, Iowa -- Ron Deiter received the Central Region John Deere Award at the Annual National Association of Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Conference.
Deiter is a professor of economics who coordinates the undergraduate agricultural business program at Iowa State University. He is involved in recruiting, retaining and advising agricultural business students.
NACTA is an organization dedicated to the improvement of college teaching of agriculture, natural and environmental sciences. There are more than 1,000 members of NACTA representing more than 125 post-secondary agricultural institutions in the U.S. and Canada. Deiter's award was presented June 23.
The NACTA John Deere Award is awarded jointly to a faculty member and his or her institution in each of the five geographic regions (Western, Central, Southern, Eastern and Canada) of NACTA. The award is designed to recognize outstanding teachers and programs of agricultural business, technology and/or management in post-secondary schools and colleges.
Deiter has worked at ISU for 20 years, and has served as an adviser to three different student organizations.
Deiter received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, his master's from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana.
