INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE TO TACKLE ANIMAL PRODUCTION ISSUES

AMES -- A forum for communication among livestock producers, scientists, government officials and others will be held July 19-22 at the Polk County Convention Complex in Des Moines. The program includes nearly 100 oral presentations and more than 50 posters from an international group of participants.

"Odor, water quality, nutrient management and socioeconomic issues will be addressed," said Colin Scanes, who heads the conference planning group.

On Monday and Tuesday there will be dozens of concurrent sessions during mornings and afternoons. A trade show also will be open during these times. On Monday night an evening symposium, "Producer Demonstration, Education and Certification Programs," will be held. The conference will conclude Wednesday at noon after sessions on successful extension programs and current research.

A $125 conference fee covers all refreshment breaks and lunch on Monday. One-day registration is $75.
