HOOPS HIGHLIGHTED AT ISU LIVESTOCK FIELD DAY NEAR CASTANA
AMES, Iowa -- Hoop structures for hog production will be highlighted at a livestock field day on Sept. 17 at Iowa State University's Western Research and Demonstration Farm near Castana.
The field day will run from 10 a.m. to noon. ISU animal scientist Mark Honeyman will speak about environmental considerations and alternative uses for hoop structures. Area livestock specialist Dave Stender will talk on the economics and management of hoop structures. Hog producers Al and Bob Hoefling of Marcus will relate their experiences using hoop structures.
Visitors will tour a new hoop structure that has been built at the farm, and can learn about pasture farrowing of hogs.
