FOUR ISU FACULTY MEMBERS RECEIVE HONORS IN UZBEKISTAN

AMES, Iowa -- Four faculty members in Iowa State University's College of Agriculture have been named honorary professors of a university in Uzbekistan.

At a May 30 ceremony in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers awarded honorary professorship diplomas to David Topel, dean of the College of Agriculture; David Acker, director of International Agriculture Programs; Ramesh Kanwar, professor of agricultural and biosystems engineering; and Kenneth Holscher, associate professor of entomology. Kanwar accepted the diplomas on behalf of the others.

The diplomas recognized contributions made by the ISU faculty members in developing cooperative teaching, research and extension programs with the institute. ISU had received a three-year grant from the U.S. Information Service to help establish the programs.
