PRECISION AGRICULTURE CONFERENCE PLANNED

AMES, Iowa -- A conference targeted to producers who have several years of experience with precision agriculture technologies will be held at the Hotel Fort Des Moines Dec. 1-2.

Organizers say the conference will give producers the chance to help influence the future direction of precision agriculture. Joining producers at the conference will be land-grant university officials and representatives of the software and equipment industries.

Titled "Precision Agriculture: Moving to New Production and Management Systems," the conference will open with a noon luncheon on Dec. 1. It will adjourn at 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 2.

During formal presentations and informal break-out sessions, the past, the present and the future of precision agriculture will be discussed. Participants will be asked to share their ideas on what types of research and education programs are needed from land-grant institutions to advance the effectiveness of precision agriculture techniques and technologies.

A $125 registration fee covers conference materials, two lunches and one dinner. Register by Nov. 26 by calling the ISU Extended and Continuing Education office at 1-800-262-0015.

Conference sponsors are land-grant institutions in the north-central region, the Farm Foundation and the Ag Electronics Association. It is being coordinated by Iowa State University.
