ISU BLOCK & BRIDLE CLUB SPONSORS SPRING PIG SALE
AMES, Iowa -- The third annual spring club pig sale, sponsored by the ISU Block and Bridle Club and the Iowa Purebred Swine Council, will be Saturday, April 26 at 5 p.m. at the Story County Fairgrounds in Nevada.
Pigs are consigned by Iowa State University alumni, plus members of the Iowa Purebred Swine Council and the Block and Bridle Club. About 100 pigs are expected at the sale. The pigs are all January through March farrowed, and will be both purebreds and crossbreds. All pigs will be sold with health papers and pedigrees will be available for purebreds.
Organizers say the Block and Bridle Club holds the sale to give club members a chance to sell their own pigs, while gaining valuable experience working with Iowa swine breeders and organizations. The club also sponsors a yearly club lamb sale, which was held earlier in April.
Members of 4-H and FFA clubs are targeted as buyers for these sales, as they look for animals they think will be winners on the show circuit.
Consignments will be taken until the sale date. For more information about consignments or the sale, contact co-chairs Amy Robb, 515/292-6795, or Julie Olson, 515/296-9029.
