ISU MEAT ANIMAL EVALUATION TEAM TAKES FIRST IN CONTEST
AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University's Meat Animal Evaluation Team placed first in the 34th annual United National Collegiate Meat Animal Evaluation Contest held recently in St. Joseph, MO.
Eleven college teams participated in the contest, in which students evaluate breeding animals, carcass traits and meats, and test their communications skills.
Members of the ISU team and their hometowns are: Lance Bell, Leon; Matt Fischer, Winston, MO; Scott Freebairn, Ottawa, IL; Jamie Goedken, Bernard; Karen Haberer, Sterling, IL; Tim Hardy, Lohrville; James Kramer, Worthington, MN; Clint McAfee, Audubon, IA; Andy Melody, Lake City; Melissa Suko, Jamestown, ND; Erin Wilson, Creston; Steven Olson, Red Oak; Craig Belknap, Mediapolis; and Brad Ozinga, Oskaloosa. The coaches are animal science professors F.C. Parrish and Brad Skaar.
