INSTITUTE FOR PUBLIC LEADERSHIP SEEKS AWARD NOMINEES
AMES, Iowa -- The Institute for Public Leadership is seeking nominations for its first Common Ground Leadership Award.
"We established the award to recognize people, groups or organizations whose activities and achievements embody the institute's mission of promoting cooperation, trust and quality service delivery among Iowa's three branches of state government," said Elizabeth Isaacson, chief clerk for the Iowa House of Representatives and a member of the institute's advisory board.
The nonprofit Institute for Public Leadership has provided leadership training for Iowa's state government leaders since 1995. Each year the institute brings together emerging leaders from all levels and branches of state government, with the goal of facilitating intergovernmental cooperation and enhancing the quality of government services.
The institute's advisory board is made up of representatives from the executive, legislative and judicial branches of state government, Iowa State University Extension, other regents institutions and the League of Women Voters.
Award nominees must have made significant contributions towards one or more of the following goals: enhancing quality of governmental services delivered to Iowans; increasing governmental effectiveness, efficiency and communication; and exemplifying the spirit of intergovernmental cooperation and achievement envisioned by the institute's mission.
Nominations will be accepted until 5 p.m., Oct. 3. The Common Ground Leadership Award will be presented on Nov. 5, the final day of the institute's 1997 training session. For more information and application forms, contact Joani S. Gent, program manager, Institute for Public Leadership, (515) 294-2951.
