Livestock and Poultry in the Bioeconomy

Cash receipts from animal agriculture make up over half of Iowa cash
farm receipts. Nationally, livestock and poultry production is the
largest use for corn. The emerging ethanol industry creates new
competition for feedstock and also produces a new feedstuff,
distillers grains with solubles (DGS). Along with corn gluten feed,
soybean hulls, glyserol, and other grain processing coproducts, DGS
create new opportunities and challenges for livestock and poultry
producers.

Here are some ways Iowa State University is integrating livestock with the bioeconomy.
