Feeding the World: Are We Making Progress?

For more than five years, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has presented a fall-semester seminar series to address world hunger and food security issues and ask the question: “Are we making progress?” Many College faculty and students who’ve visited and worked in Africa have shared their experiences and reflections in the series. Other notable presenters since 2007 have been:

  • M.S. Swaminathan, 1987 World Food Prize Laureate, of India;
  • Grace Marquis of McGill University;
  • Gregg BeVier of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation;
  • Henry Kizito Musoke of Volunteer Efforts for Development Concerns of Uganda;
  • Merry Frederick of Self-Help International;
  • James De Vries of Heifer International; and
  • Jimmy Smith of the World Bank.
